چکیده

The adsorption of 2-picoline (PC) and 3-Amino-2-picoline (APC) onto kaolin and organomodified kaolin was investigated. Tetraethylamoniumiodide (TEAI) was used as modification reagent. The sorbent was characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM and BET methods. The influence of various parameters like contact time, PH, adsorbent dose and initial concentration of PC and APC was studied. The adsorption kinetics, thermodynamic and isotherms were thoroughly examined. Results show that a pH value of more than 6 and contact time 60 min is favorable for adsorption. The dynamic data fit well with the pseudofirst-order kinetic model. Thermodynamic results revealed that the adsorption process is an endothermic and spontaneously process. The isothermal data could be well described by the Freundlich equation. The results indicate that kaolin/TEAI could be employed as low cost sorbent for removal of organic pollutant from water.

Removal of Toxic Pollutants from Aqueous Solutions by Adsorption onto Organo-kaolin

In this study, the adsorption of toxic pollutants onto cetyltrimethylammonium kaolin (CTAB-Kaolin) is investigated. The organo-kaolin is synthesized by exchanging cetyltrimethylammonium cations (CTAB) with inorganic ions on the surface of kaolin. The chemical analysis, the structural and textural properties of kaolin and CTAB-kaolin were investigated using elemental analysis, FTIR, SEM and adso...

Adsorption of 4-picoline and piperidine to the hydrated SiO2 surface: probing the surface acidity with vibrational sum frequency generation spectroscopy.

Vapor adsorption is an important process influencing the migration and the fate of many organic pollutants in the environment. In this study, vibrational sum frequency generation (SFG) spectroscopy was used to study the adsorption of two surface acidity probe molecules, 4-picoline (pKa = 5.94) and piperidine (pKa = 11.24), onto the amorphous SiO2 surface. The adsorption of 4-picoline onto the s...

Adsorption of Cu(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Pb(II) onto Kaolin/Zeolite Based- Geopolymers

This work deals with geopolymers based on local Jordanian resources, namely, kaolin and zeoltitic (phillipsite) tuff. The geopolymers were prepared from these two materials by a reaction with an alkali solution at 80oC. The research group of the present work has demonstrated in previous work that addition of zeolitic tuff to kaolin based-geopolymers increases the adsorption capacity toward Cu(I...
